Born in Sweden and now based in Spain, Elena Nevado clearly feels a deep connection to the American Southwest, abundantly evidenced in her captivating paintings of American eagles, Native Americans and Appaloosa horses. Layers of fascinating symbols are woven together in her vivid paintings, with the peacock standing for love and paradise, the eagle for strength and mystery, and the horse for freedom and power. Yet even for those unfamiliar with their significance, her paintings have a raw power that communicates directly to the heart while her colors and compositions delight the eye.
Elena’s work can be seen in several galleries throughout the United States as well as in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. In Spain she has participated in the Art Festival of Marbella in 2009 as well as the SICAB, a horse event in Seville. Her work has been featured in “Svenska Magasinet” in Sweden, and “Horses in Art,” “Santa Fe Weekly” and “Santa Fe Focus” in the United States
