Barry Lee Darling
According to Darling, his paintings and collages are about “journeys of the heart”.  Window-like openings occur frequently in his pieces, transporting the viewer into rich and mysterious worlds.  Old tin-type photographs of figures are incorporated and embellished with torn paper, laces, cryptic symbols, and organic elements such as horse-hair. Complex layers of color, collage and glazed finishes combine to create leather-like surfaces that contain miniature landscapes and treasures suggestive of life’s rugged and intriguing stories, both old and new.
Barry Lee Darling’s background includes four years in the Marine Corps, a bicycle trip across America, a Masters in Painting from Northeast Louisiana University, as well as a long-held position as professor of art at Le Moyne College in Syracuse, NY.  He has won several awards, joined a number of prestigious collections, and has had numerous one-man exhibitions.  Adieb Khadoure Fine Arts is proud to have represented Barry Lee Darling for over fifteen years.
